We decided to not do shower glass and we are so happy with the results! It was kind of a gamble because a actually don’t think it’s true that the shower glass trend has come to an end. I don’t think it’s a trend it’s just kind of necessary. But…
But are there alternatives?
Ok, so, to beat the same drum… when we built our house in 2022, we ran out of money and couldn’t do shower glass. We literally couldn’t afford it. For our primary bath shower, jack and jill shower, plus two more upstairs bathrooms showers, the shower glass quote we got was like $19,850.
Ouch.
Especially when we had already cut out so much from out build, and our construction loan company had been asking (nicely) for months when we would get our COI (certificate of occupancy).
We had to figure this out.
Well, luckily, we didn’t need shower glass to move in! Who knew, right? So we moved forward without it. And we showered glassless for months and months. We kept our elbows tucked in and used towels to mop up all the spill-over. And ok we have to replace two baseboards now haha!
I kept wondering if there might be an alternative to glass. I thought of curtains, but 3 of the four showers are in a corner, so there are not two opposing walls to attach a curtain rod. One day I thought of an awesome idea: what if there was a corner curtain rod? A quick search on Amazon later a realized there is not a corner curtain rod.
So I got discouraged and gave up. For about a year.
After the wait, I decided it would be worth searching again. I mean, I’m not the only one with this problem, right?
Sure enough, when I went to search, there was a great corner curtain rod on Amazon. So I bought them and installed them and here are the pictures of how it turned out:
Anyway, let me know what you think!

Would you ever do this in your home to (maybe temporarily) save like $19k???
